I made this vanity as an offering to the show where my interpretation of the color red is directly tied to my grief but also the love that they have passed on to me and shapes my interactions in the world. I consider this to be a small alter, my first installation work. I chose vanity as the foundation as an homage to my mother’s morning rituals, the sacred time she spent with herself. Watching her care for her body taught me how to tend to mine. This piece is for both of them, my first mirrors, my fiercest loves. Their reflections is everywhere in me.
